The River Institute,  a non-profit organization based on the shore of the St. Lawrence River in Cornwall, Ontario, has been dedicated to environmental research, education, and community action for three decades. This discovery and research centre is proud to offer high-quality, bilingual science education initiatives through workshops that connect students of all ages to its in-house research.

Thanks to the support of the R. Howard Webster Foundation, the River Institute annually introduces over 5,000 students to real-world science. Its education team is comprised of research scientists and field biologists who enrich science learning by sharing their passion for the natural world with future generations of scientists and environmental stewards.

The River Institute’s workshops engage students in hands-on, practical field and laboratory research, fostering a deeper understanding of the scientific method, and awareness of environmental challenges and solutions. They also provide meaningful connections to the natural world and powerful role models for young people considering a career in science.

By integrating active scientific research with public communication and community outreach, the River Institute inspires future generations to become informed, engaged, and proactive environmental stewards.
